Last summer, my eldest daughter texted me and asked if I wanted to go out for a walk "Pick a park." she said. In all the time I've lived in London, I don't think I had ever hiked around Westminster Ponds, so that's where we went. Did I mention it was also to chase Pokemon Go? *head shake* Who knew?

Westminster Ponds spreads across 200 hectares and has 10 kms of trails. Some of the pathways are natural, some are boardwalks, all weaving in and around the ponds within. It's a great spot to catch a glimpse a variety of trees, birds (over 200 species!) and other animals. Wesminster Ponds is a great asset to the surrounding neighbourhood and the entire city and is the largest, publicly-owned Environmentally Significant Are (ESA) in London, Ontario.

The housing in the neighbourhood surrounding this beautiful, natural spot consists of low density, middle class, single family structures, semi-detached, townhouses and apartments/condos. This neighbourhood is full of crescents, courts and winding roads. Like most every other neighbourhood in London, Westminster was originally annexed as London grew. This area is well situated, with easy access to the 401, shopping in nearby White Oaks and industrial areas in the south and east ends of the city.
