Mel's Insights:
Tucked on the East side of London, ON lies the Old East Village. It was recently designated as a heritage district. Its rich history in the homes is balanced with an injection of young families and artists who make this community one of the hottest up-and-coming neighbourhoods. All of this is complimented by the revitalization of the Dundas corridor where on a weekly basis there seems to be a new hip coffee shop or boutique store opening. This is definitely a neighbourhood to watch. From a real estate perspective, the neighbourhood has a lot of potential. The fact that it has the old architecture and the signs that they’ve put up on all the houses telling you that in 1902, for instance, there was a dentist or a welder who lived there, there are the really cool elements of the neighbourhood. It’s an up and coming neighbourhood that is growing much like Wortley Village in South London, ON was when I first moved into the city. The Old East Village used to be a rougher neighbourhood back in the day, but it’s now becoming that cool, new, trendy place to be. For those who want to invest a little money into taking a home that is a little bruised and then turn it into something fantastic will find a lot of opportunity here. The neighbourhood has old bones and the architecture in that area is fantastic. You just can't beat the character that this neighbourhood has.
