Giving Back

I am an active supporter of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, helping women and families in our local community.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GIVING BACK

For me, being a Realtor is one of the most rewarding experiences. From finding people the home that best suits their life to working hard to get them top dollar for their listing, I enjoy all aspects of assisting my clients and sharing my expertise and experience. However, I don’t just see myself as a Realtor: I see myself as a Londoner as well, and that means that supporting my local community of London, ON is a top priority. Whether it’s giving a shout out to my favourite restaurants on Twitter or checking out the live music scene, I love getting out, giving back and supporting local.

That’s why it’s so great that I’m a part of the Royal LePage Triland team. There are a number of brokerages a Realtor can partner with, but Royal LePage really aligns with both my personal and professional values. In fact, Royal LePage is the only Canadian real estate company that has its very own charitable foundation: The Shelter Foundation. Our foundation helps women’s shelters and violence programs across the nation through various fundraisers and events. (You can view a list of events: here)

One of the most popular events is the National Garage Sale for Shelter, which is, as the name suggests, is massive garages sale that happen locally on the same day all across Canada. In 2014, our brokerage alone raised more the $10,000 for local women’s shelters and programs. I’m proud to be a part of Canada’s largest public foundation that is dedicated exclusively to funding these important community initiatives and programs.

The garage sale happens in May of every year and is always lots of fun. There’s music, a BBQ and, not to mention, some great finds for those treasure hunters. Bring your bartering skills, get some great stuff and know that all of the proceeds (yes, 100%) go to local women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. If Spring cleaning is in your future and you are looking to donate items, send me an email and I can provide you with more information about what items we do/don’t accept and what time of year we are accepting donations.
