Mel's Insights:
In my early 20s, a friend and I found ourselves broke and in need of accommodation. After some consideration, we decided to beg, borrow and steal as much camping gear as we could and set up shop at the Fanshawe Campgrounds. It was the best summer of my life! As recent as 10 years ago, the Fanshawe neighbourhood would have been considered a rural neighbourhood of London, Ontario. A splattering of farms, spread out over lots and some seasonal homes surrounding the lake. Today, the area includes much younger homes in developed urban neighbourhoods. Eventhough the Fanshawe neighbourhood sits in the north of the city, it still has very convenient access to the 401 by way of Veterans Memorial Parkway. The Fanshawe neighbourhood is also located within close promixity to Fanshawe Lake, great golfing, the village of Thorndale, St. Mary's and also the north end of London.
